THE SAPS A RUNNIN'

SPRING 1996

During the winter of 1995, we built a pre-fab Sugar Shack at Fonthill Lumber.
Here we are putting the puzzle back together.

Sap suckers

Hyla and Nicola

This cabin which has long been removed I put up on our land shortly after purchasing it.
1978

Here we have the capacity to boil 80L at a time . Over the years we averaged about 40 taps and probably collected a average of 1500L of sap per season. You get one litre of syrup from 40 L of sap.
Fell free to get your calculator out and see how much syrup that is.
It'll do a good stack of pancakes, though I prefer waffles. (holds the syrup better)

Sugar frenzy

Surviving a all nighter.

Just to left is were our home is now. The knoll to the right is were our Chicken Koop/Goat House stands today.

NEXT - LOTS OF STICKY FINGERS . COME BACK FOR IMAGES OF THE SAP DRIPPING.
