MOUNT VAN HOEVENBERG BOBSLED - LAKE PLACID

Our recent stay at Whistler, British Columbia, CANADA had us head UP to the Olympic Sliding Centre.
Before we take a look at what was happening there, we'll take a look back to some visits to:

1959

Here in 1959 we visit the bobsled track that hosted the LP Olympics in 1932.

Finish runout.

The whole track must have been handpacked with snow and ice.

In 1981 I did a solo climb of Mount Marcy. Stopped by the then new track that hosted the 1980 Olympics.
In the distance stand the twin ski jumping towers

Luge-a-vision

During the early 80's when combined numerous visits to Whiteface to ski and the track.

Hey, it's 1982 here and I just saw that sweater in the closet the other day.??

Feel like a Olympian for 58 seconds.
Here Kate is going to wango the tango. With Sugarbear at the wheel, Kate is at the back of this ice bus. If this Pushman is a miss and out, these lives are in the hands of the BrakeWOMAN.

WHISTLER BLACKCOMB

THIS POST HAS BEEN RATED "E" FOR YOUR
ENJOYMENT
(where available, please feel free to compose your own captions)
(I got better things to do than sit here and write mindless confusing comments. Similar to the drone and droll of a window mounted air conditioner)
(Going into the village soon for supper)
(Plus when we get back I see there's on the Smithsonian channel a

"Topiary Wars"
marathon.
(keep a eye out for this season's "Canada. Over the Edge" on the Smithsonian. Nicola is supposedly in the Inuvik, NWT episode. And I do write "supposedly"

OK lets get to the part where I don't write all the.................

 Symphony Bowl

This one is for Nicola. It's also for Kate and I as we hiked to the Flute Bowl and beyond on a overnight backpack this past fall.

The other overnighter we did this past fall was to Decker Tarn. In the shaded upper valley to the far right.

Click for summer fun.

 New boots.

If you answered, "do parts look glazed?" with a yes, you are correct. The mid day sun softened things up nicely.

 One meter worth of snowboarder.
Off da Rails

This is one of the parts that need snow. Considering that some of the trees and boulders are 2-3 meters high, lots of snow.
