CANADIAN HISTORIC GRAND PRIX hosted by VARAC - TRIBUTE TO ALEC PURDY

A fitting tribute to the late Canadian race car designer and builder, Alec Purdy, was held during the Monoposto race and over the day.

Alec was responsible for designing, building and racing the Ferret FF.
The car, with numerous drivers including my brother and Alec went on to win a number of Canadian Formula Ford Championships and races in the prestiges and highly competitive Bulova Formula Ford series.

Here appropriately, Ferret Industrie's works driver, John Scratch, leads out the Monoposto field in a lap of honour.
A very interesting and fitting tribute was announced.

Both my brother and I were thankful to have Alec both as a wrench,(firstly on ours Lotuses, and then John's Ferret ride) but also as a friend.
Alec's subtle and modest character seemed to avail him to be a companion to most (off track), certainly to the less technically capable as myself.
My first race with my, new to me, Lotus had Alec tag along to the now gone Waterford Hills Track in Michigan.
I was lucky to have bought into one of Alec's passions, a Lotus 61.

One of my fondest memories, there are many which I will look forward to posting images soon, is when a small gang of us rented a motor home and headed for three days of the best amateur racing of the year,
The Champion Sparkpulg National Runoffs
 at
RoadAtlanta.
If you can picture it, we even parked our our beast of a motor home on our way home and hiked in the Tennessee Smokies.
Sorry??. Sorry??, Paul Nemy, Alec Prudy

Here a rare moment with Alec in his "hiking boots" and hands empty,

RIP
