We're off to ride the historic Erie Canal Trail. We plan on cycling a portion of the approximately five hundred miles of once mule towpath that still today connects Albany, NY with Tonawanda NY.
With it being a rather linear route, we've hoped on the AMTRAC in Niagara Falls, NY and will unload and start riding back from Rochester, NY.
"All off-board"
The trail is extremely well supported with both modern services and plenty of historical references to it's storied past.
It didn't take us too long to figure we've happened upon
a few more cyclist than we thought would be the norm.
We're cycling "upstream" to upwards of seven hundred participants of the annual "Tour de Erie Canal".
An organized event that over the week will see the supported riders cover the whole distance after spending nights in various host towns.
And now for some complete randomness.
So we're cycling and passing on our hellos to the oncoming masses.
At a complete random town, at a complete random spot, we stop first to comment on the nature of the park, we see two random guys.
For whatever reason, we start randomly talking
AND WHO WOULD HAVE RANDOMLY THUNK IT,
the "MARYLAND" (Bethesda) guy is originally from Dunkirk, NY and knows Peter and PEG!!!!!, who is originally from.............Dunkirk,NY.
I think it was Mike?
Here who hope to balance out the charm and quaintness of our lovely Bed and Breakfast with some............
lets just say "Protein". (that sounds sporty)
Oh, you guys amaze me in your travels. Love your pics and stories. Keep on “ truckin”. Hugs.
