Mount Shasta to Grass Lake Rest Stop, on the edge of California, U.S.A. Nemy, Hyla and paul

South Lake Tahoe to here.

September 15, 2016
Day: Two Four
Forty nine posts out of sixty three.

Here's just another day in a cycle of real life. A cycle tour that saw, my two compasses, Nicola and Hyla, and a I amazingly fill in the empty spaces on a crossword. That meaning a  cross state ride from Bakersfield to South Lake Tahoe, CA. There we ceremoniously jettisoned the one spice girl back to life in Ontario, Canada. That up and down story can be found further back via the “older post” button. Father’s days!
These pages are of Hyla and I continuing and taking in some pretty amazing highs and "ohs" and trying to chase, thankfully, a never ending horizon.
Or at least for now Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.

After a couple of fun nights of R and R in the town of Mount Shasta, we're packed up and are headed to Oregon, U.S.A.
This volcano towers over 14,000ft above the town and sea level.

Our goal but no turn-off today.

I ride Schwable Marathons so flats are very few and far in-between.
Here I make up for the far in-between and past rides by having a few(two) in a rather short distance in between.

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot.
What The F@#$

With Hyla riding Schrader tubes which won't work with my wheels, after having gone through my two spares in just a handful of miles, here we are befriended by this German recumbetour.
Having run out of tubes, he spares us some tube patches that weren't part of our emergency parts kit.

I love how proud most Americans are.
Here along route in a rather isolated and unassuming section of road, this sole caretaker was looking after of a war memorial honouring some of the country's fallen.
God bless America.

Even though we are heading to some high plains, this won't be our last punch up by far.

I have been at remiss to thank and credit my riding partner for this any many more photos slapped up here and everywhere.
(was waiting for her to say "smile")

We were earlier in Weed.
Now we will spend the night at Grass Lake rest stop.
We are still in California.

Doesn't get much nicer for our last night in California.
(Could have been a little warmer)
