DUBROVNIK, CROATIA. OUR DAY ONE

Mussels harvested today. From what we've seen we have no reason to doubt.
(please. the first thing we did was NOT eat. It's just the way the pictures loaded and I don't want to bother pushing them down.) (It actually was pretty close to the first thing but whatever)

The name of the fish is "local"

Like many restaurateurs, ours was very enlightened (and quite the salesman).
We learned more about Croatians in Canada than I ever knew, from the locals.

Bought local and never regretted it.

We could have possibly brought the beach weather with us.

Hard to believe that here and many other places we will pass through in the next couple of weeks were being shelled just twenty five years ago.

We asked cautiously, as the subject of the war that broke up Yugoslavia is still evident in many places.

As we can appreciate the fact, with the uniqueness of the old town, it is the site of many movie backdrops.
Big here is for the followers, fanatics of Game of Thrones. Also Star Wars and a host of others

Here Kate is deciding which perspective is most, how should I put this? .....................

a smokin' picture. ya

With our room just here, we will take a rest now and then out for the evening.

Our room in the old town.

I have to say that travelling during the off season we have been enjoying some amazing rooms of value.
Here like almost all, period decor and accents (what period during the last five hundred years?) excellently appointed bathroom, impressively fast WIFI, extremely personal hosts, location, location location.....

Now if somebody can just do something about those church bells!
