NEW ZEALAND - ABEL TASMAN - DAY ONE

FEBRUARY 22, 2013

After our successful Cook Straight crossing, we headed to Nelson and beyond to stage ourselves for our tramp in Abel Tasman National Park.

Nice and friendly little commercial Holiday Park for the night. The colour of the leaves is no indication that fall is close. We have been experiencing warm if not hot weather. Again most everywhere we travel, dry and drought conditions are prominent.

After a hour sea shuttle ride, we disembark near the end of the track. The Abel Tasman trail is one of New Zealand's most favourite and famous hikes.
In weaves in and out of sub tropical rain forests and small pockets of beach. To complete the whole hike one would need 3-4 days. The Sea Shuttle's route makes many designated stops so as to drop off everyone from day hiker to cottage residents. We will spend one  night up the trail and be picked up tomorrow. (if all goes well)

Our tent is tuck up in the jungle.

Many of the views were nice.
