MILFORD SOUND LODGE

The limited services at the end of the road, which is Milford Sound, add to the quiet beauty but limit overnight options. The only alternative to the Fiordland National Park's hotel was the Milford Sound Lodge, a backpackers spot. It served us very well. A small but clean room. Shared bath house facilities.

After our late afternoon arrival we will spend the night here. Our first look at the Sound had still the remnants of the heavy day traffic of buses for boat tours.
The result of limited accommodations and overnight visitors was an evening walk of serenity and calm with the iconic Mitre Peak disappearing in the ALL BLACK.
