TORRES DEL PAINE, PARQUE NACIONAL. EL CHILENO CAMPGROUND

January 23, 2017

Before we get too far into this post I would just like to clarify that here we are not by my standards at the campground but more so camphill.

Our tireless attempts of mix(camping or Refugio) and match(dates) booking process many months ago had us come up empty on beds in this Refugio for the night. Normally not a problem as we are fond of our tent and what it brings to our outdoor experiences.
It did call for us to pack the Hubba Hubba through the park for what will end up being just for one night.

But if it is to be for one night, might as well make it as unique and different as this site will be.

If the available area is a lemon, well.......you know, and by the way I love lemonade, especially those days at the CNE when its way to hot and that overpriced cup of icy fresh squeezed makes you appreciate it so much more.

Not to take away (OK, just a little) from this experience is the rather exorbitant cost of renting a platform. Firstly for reasons much publicized, there is no cooking by any means permitted in the campground. Your booking automatically includes a meal plan at the refugio. Not a problem.
Slight problem being is that if you wish to avoid a LONG round trip day visiting Los Torres, this is your only lay over option.
Here is pretty much your only option of platform (boards) and board for $US180.00/night for two including two square and one round meal.
Let me do a currency conversion.
That is a @#$%^&* lot for enjoying nature!!!
(better be good)

Living.
Really.

Hubba Hubba Hubba Hubba

Even with protection of the trees, the assorted valleys we have been passing through have the potential to create wind tunnels.

Hoping that when I pop out tomorrow for my morning stretch that I don't end up half way to the base lodge. I'm not even going there as in my
"mid" night pee.

Now "high" and acting on our good fortune of being (it is slightly chilly) "dry", we are off to see the one sight in the park to be missed,       NOT!
(not long ago we got some stylings from another travel adventure:
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

Jak sie masz?
