GRANITE CHALET, GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, MONTANA, U.S.A.

JULY 26, 2012

Hiked to a chalet that was built over 100 years ago. Only accessible by a 4 mile hike, UP! You can stay overnight in amazing but primitive lodging. Probably like 100 years ago.

This area, like so many that we have traveled through over the past week,
was devastated by forest fires in 2003.
No shortage of sunshine. Quite hot for over 6,000 ft above sea level.
This is grizzly country. Pepper spray at hand, we and most others are whistling, singing, ....

Granite Chalet.

Free Tibet.

Rooms with a VIEW!
Over our two days in the park, we seemed to keep bumping into this threesome from Indiana.

We tracked this deer for 5 seconds. Then it tracked us for a couple of minutes until I got annoyed and showed it our can of bear spray. It got the message. I was thinking peppered venison steak for supper.
