ROGERS CUP 2013, ANN NEMY, TENNIS CANADA - TENNIS ANYONE

AUGUST 8, 2013

Any change that I get to watch women packed into tight dresses and running around grunting, I take.

On this Thursday, Mom and I headed to the Rexall Tennis Centre in Toronto to watch a little Rogers Cup. Our luck of the draw allowed us three excellent matches over the afternoon.

MATCH 1
Radwanska (Poland)

Stephens (U.S.A.)

WINNER

The tournament saw nearly all of the top 30 women in the world. Missing was Maria.

MATCH 2
This was an excellent match between former No. 1 in the world, Ana Ivanovic (Serbia) and past Paris Open Champion Na Li of China.

Match went to Game 3 tiebreaker. Li Na winner. Doesn't get better than that
 Well played all around.

This fellow sat just down from us. A one man China cheering section.

Na Li

Where the men at? Oh! Montreal.

MATCH 3
(no match)

World No. ONE!, Serena Williams,
and

Kirsten Flipkens, Belgium

Worst mascot ever!

When I played and followed tennis a little closer, 40 years ago, the game was dominated by extremely talented but younger players. Today, evident by the soon to be 2013 Rogers Cup Champion, Serena demonstrates the game now is all about the more mature player and POWER.
One of her serves clocked in at 207kph.

Our seats were third row.

I was there.

Winner.

Game, set, match.

LOVE!

What a great afternoon!
