GOOSE BAY to NAIN, LABRADOR
Today we start an adventure with a
flight from Goose Bay to the furthest northern community in Labrador, Nain. Accessible
only by air or our scheduled return, the Labrador Sea. The predominately Innu
community has taken on some notoriety of late as a jumping (flying) off point for
one of Canada’s newest National Parks, Torngat.
Happy Valley, Labrador
Fasten your seat belts. Just make sure your seat is still fastened to the floor.
With Nain on top, we will stop in on the routed communities on our way back to HV-GB
(if all goes well. This is iceberg alley)
During our stay we will become familiar
with the importance of these flights as the boat we our scheduled to take
return on has roughly a one week turn around time. These lifelines are all
about what help make this and many parts of Canada what they are today (Not all
good as we shall see later).
There were about seven of us and some random bags of onions and the like on this particular flight.
One and one half hours.
And Alex. The question was?
We were fortunate to only having to imagine what it must be like flying in conditions that weren’t reflective of today’s blue skies.
Want your luggage. Come and get it.
