NAIN, LABRADOR

After the dust settled from our landing we were literally "pick"ed "up" by the one and only hotel in town, and whisked away to our introduction of the Lifestyles of the Innu and Famous.

Famous, who, what the....? 

Kate and I weren't in town for an hour when we got the word on the dirt street that there will be a community BBQ tonight. Sounds great.

I wonder what they would be grillin' in this part of the world?

SPOILER - President's Choice.

The word on the street dirt is that one of only about a half a dozen persons in this world of how many billion people to ever win, and not just two, Olympic medals in both the Summer and Winter Games was in town.

Canadian cyclist and long track speed skating hero, Clara Hughes and company were in town as they passed through returning from the northern Torngat National Park.

Great way to get to meet the locals.

Being forced to stand in line with them. 

 The BBQ was in appreciation of Clara's impromptu "talks " to the town's folk over the past few days.

My interest in competitive cycling had me following Clara's career right from some of her early racing days starting out in Hamilton.

Olympic medals are just a part of Clara's multi page palmares.

Hughe's outreach beyond sport is possibly hers and ours biggest win.

Check out any of her worthy causes.  

There's nothing funny about (tied with Cindy Klassen) currently being Canada's most decorated Olympic athlete. 

I wonder if there will ever be a Spring or Fall Olympics?

I wonder if there are any hamburgers left.?
