PORT HOPE SIMPSON, LABRADOR - STILL. THE LONG AND GRAVELY ROAD.

DAY SEVENTEEN
SUNDAY, AUGUST 25, 2013
ON THE ROAD TO PINWARE PROVINCIAL PARK

We have crossed over the past couple of weeks rivers that make Labrador a world renown fly fisherperson's paradise. We have seen names of rivers that have brought some of the most famous in the world to this remote part of Canada.

We made a little side trip for our camp out in Charlottetown. The more direct route would of had us hit Port Hope Simpson first after the remote 400 kilometre trek from Happy Valley- Goose Bay.
One would think that your reward for making it wouldn't be some town that seems to be barely hanging on to it's own existence. At this first fuel stop, what must be for some a huge relief, the only fuel pump at the only gas station seems like it should be on one of those History Channel's restoration shows.
Worth more dead than alive.

These Innu style sleds litter the road side. They mate with snow machines in the winter to haul firewood.

This would be beautiful if you had a 100 kilometre extension cord.

COMING NEXT: PAUL AND KATE GO TO CAMP.
