When passing through Idaho I stopped and rode the Hiawatha Trail. A 25K section of reclaimed rail line through the last place one would ever expect to ever see a train pass, let alone one hundred years ago.
Run by the local Lookout Pass Ski area, the promoted “park at the top, ride down, get bused back to the top” was the way to go.
Must of been a dozen trestles and tunnels each. One tunnel was near two kilometres. I had the juice and rode both ways.
