OUR COTTAGE. 2023. A NIGHT OUT

Hello. Finding it hard to believe that it’s been seven years since our cottage starting going up and six summer seasons that Kate and I have been endeavouring to bring it to some semblance of complete. (I use the word “work” with reverence as one would be hard pressed to find a nicer place to do so) Not sure if it will ever be “finished” but we  sure are  proud (surprised, confounded, amazed,….) of how far we’ve gotten. In the next series of posts we would like to share with you some images of our beautiful hideaway.

We are the visitors here. It’s home first for any number of………snakes, both Fox, the much respected Massassauga Rattlesnake, water,…… We had a moose come nearby for a visit this year. The occasional black bear and white tail deer. Coming early and staying late we see quite the variety of waterfowl on various migrational paths. One regular that we will never tire of is a common loon couple that nest nearby. Talking about being here first, we regular see a snapping turtle that we gauge by size could be in excess of seventy-five years. Come join us for some wildlife.

Here we are happily co-habitating with a number of colonies of bats. Like so many scenarios of life, we at first thought them to be troublesome before we constructed a number of “houses”. Still a little Erie when out for any evening business but ultimately knowing that they and we are happy with the mosquito control.
