LAKE DISTRICT, CHILE

December 28, 2016

For years I primarily associated and wish to visit Chile for the sole purpose of visiting "Patagonia".

SPOILER ALERT

This much photographed far off land of mystery, granite spires and a nice sports fashion line.
We were soon adding to the must visit list.
One was the Lake District, located north of Puerto Montt in south central Chile. Kate and I like lakes. With active volcanoes as roadside attractions, we're off to tour this much touted vacation land.

A nice change of scenery of green after our previous week of car travel through some pretty dry and dusty land further north.

Fuchsia Magellan

With a mix of maps and brochures we've spent the day aimlessly rambling our way towards the vacation town of Pucon.

We are pretty much determined during our car travels to camp as much as possible. So as to avoid the trappings of commercial campgrounds, it has become an sort of entertainment for us that at a certain point of the day we start a search and ranking of spots to freedom camp, an activity generally not frowned upon in Chile , providing one uses one's common and courteous sense.

We've found a spot with obvious unique views.
Besides the active volcano that at any moment can reek death and destruction for kilometres,
looks like Eagle Lake.

Some of the volcanoes that we will pass in the next week erupted with a vengeance in 2015.
If it will be so ...., all we ask is that it be anytime after 08:00 tomorrow please!

With a now deserted beach we will enjoy an amazingly serene night.

With each step serving as our dinner table, we could of had a 13 course meal.
Maybe next time.
