PUCON, CHILE

December 30, 2016

We'll start the day with a little beach breakfast.

Then we are off to
Huerquehue National Park to do some hiking.

Unique and notable in these parts of South America,
the Monkey Puzzle Tree.

Lago.

Ud esta aqui.
One of the worlds greatest assurances to the traveller:
YOU ARE HERE!

All within striking distance of our beach camp, the hike and here our volcano ski hill camp is Pucon.
There we have a room booked to celebrate News Years Eve.
After our hike we targeted a small ski centre on the slopes of Volcano Villaricca for what we thought would be an rather unique opportunity.
The access road up was exciting enough.
Upon arrival did not only find a rather old and tired looking resort stuck on the volcano's side but also unfortunately our string of awesome weather coming to an end.

 June

 A little more later.
This volcano is pretty much in town.
This is pretty much it erupting in 2016.

June.

During the day, this facility is a jumping off point for those who come to explore and even summit the peak, but driven off by the fowl weather and days end the place is fittingly (spookey) empty.

We've taken advantage of the lodges covered deck to set up camp and escape some of the weather.

Though we were hoping for some rather unique views, once again our sheltered shelter will provide us for a rather comfy night tucked a little deeper in our sleeping bags.
