Any New Years Eve, when after a day of big mountain skiing,  I can take in a torch light parade, fireworks, some wood fired oven pizza and be in bed in time to wish anyone in Newfoundland, HAPPY NEW YEAR! is a good New Years Eve.

 Resolutions. Let me think?
1) I will never ever wear blue jean shorts in public again.
2) Next time I rock someone to sleep, I will not use real stones.

Good choice. Chili peppers. Bring on any kind of HEAT!

I survived  Jackson Hole. Always wondered what it would be like to go to Harvard Medical School,

Home for a couple of nights. The Hostel.

Our private room for four was perfect for the two of us.

 Our beds, three piece bathroom, WI-FI, that's all folks.

COMING NEXT - HYLA AND I  VISIT JACKSON THE TOWN 22YRS LATER. DO YOU MEAN BOTH OF US. THAT WOULD MAKE HYLA ONLY FOUR MONTHS OLD. IS IT POSSIBLE?

NEW YEARS EVE II, PART 1

YEAR OF THE TORCH.

Please, ski and snowboard with care.

Even with today's sun, after the intense cold Hyla and I were ready to hit our room apres ski. Coming out for New Years Eve's celebrations in what seemed FFFFF#$%^ frigid air was difficult but fun. I had trouble keeping the tips of my fingers from going numb while taking pictures of people in bikinis.

What the fricken, freezin'..........

When you roll into a ski area that's 90% expert and intermediate terrain and home to some of the best freeskiers in the world, I plan my day accordingly. Make dinner reservations and do everything within my power not to miss the chef's special.
Most times when Hyla and I start heading up a mountain we may not have or maybe just quickly looked at a trail map.  Most times we just start heading up and figure our way done after. I have known few lifts that once on top there isn't a survivable blue or green available.
What else does one do when they start out at Jackson but take the iconic tram. Our introduction to the Hole was by an overly pleasant tram operator welcoming us, as we arrived to the top, to some of the best and expert ONLY terrain you will find anywhere. And oh yes, wishing us " Have a great day"

Hyla and I have found over our trip that western trail grading system is much different than around home. No surprise as the mountains here are different than those at home. Having seen but not touch double blacks at many places we have been, single blacks are enough to get our attention.

Here at Jackson we stood for our first run ,at over 10, 000ft above sea level, planning our decent so as to be around for tonight's appetizers. All good fun. 

My mantra for the day was, "I'm going to see 2013", "I'm going to see 2013", "I'm going.....

We have put the "Global Warming" debate on hold since the start of our tour.

Consistently frigid temps have been following us. Some mornings we have started out at -20c or colder.

One plain that we passed over on route set our lowest at -26c.

Here we catch whatever Wyoming heat we can find.
