This Nemy, Nicola, is just finishing up a summer based in Inuvik, Northwest Territories.

Inuvik is the northern terminus of the famous Dempster Highway mapped out just below.

Looks you can something to eat and drink there.

When one lives in Inuvik a weekend get away is a 800km(one way) back and forth  (1600kms) blast down the Dempster to Dawson City as Nicola reports on a "Chairs and Tables" podcast.

NEMYS THEN

1980

In 1980 my mother  and father  found themselves out west. 

Here their travels take them up the relatively new Dempster Highway to Inuvik and a bit beyond.

 Pingo
A pingo, also called a hydrolaccolith, is a mound of earth-covered ice found in the Arctic and subarctic that can reach up to 70 metres in height and up to 600 m in diameter. The term originated as the Inuvialuktun word for a small hill.

A Tobermory wrap-up.

Packing up a rather nice camp almost right in Tobermory. Heading down the road for a night in Bruce Peninsula National Park

This was quite impressive in a way as all these people would have either hiked here or got a lift on a motor launch.

Other than our cottage coast of Georgian Bay, this is the only spot harbouring Ontario's only venomous snake.

Heading to Tobermory

 Here comes  our ride

 After setting up camp in a rather nice commercial campground almost in town, we spent our day in Bruce National Park hiking part of the Bruce Trail. 

 We enjoyed a beautiful evening just sitting by the marina.
