FRENCH EXPLORERS

For those who go looking, Manitoulin Island has been promoting itself as a cycling destination. The quiet and predominately back road feel offer a variety of routes and  options. A segment of the tourist based economy is
trying to entice the day peddler or the travelling tourer with cycling friendly services.

We start today by coming down from our high bluff campsite in the distance to start Gore Bay Summerfest with a pancake breakfast.

During our travels both in car and on our bikes we have met fellow cyclists. Through the brother and  sisterhood of  our common carrier, the bike have availed us some new friends.

You got it
Fish and Chips. Toss on some corn and slaw and a dessert of ice cream, your only looking at a ride of 42.5 kilometres to break even on the Fitness Canada scale.

After passing on more than one occasion and heading in different directions, we have gotten to know these two adventurous cycle tourists.
Claudine and Lynn from Schefferville and Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Here, pannier less, heading back to their camp after sharing the local fish fry with us.

Like Jacques Cartier and more, when the French go exploring they mean it.
These two mademoiselles are spending almost a month cris crossing the island after arriving via a Via train ride to Toronto and then pedalling here.

Kate and I enjoyed their company as we all shared the spirit of travel.

Here is Camp Quebec.
Even with best intentions in the hope of attracting cycle tourism, Gore Bay was lacking any sort of camping for the wayward cyclist.

As in Gore Bay here, Manitoulin appears to be a pleasure craft destination over the common carload of vacationers. Not uncommon to see boats with home port being as far away as Florida

HEY!!!
THAT'S MY CREED AND THAT'S MY CODE!!!

I'm thinking of making a SEX CYCLE tape.
I'm thinking of Cameron Diaz and J.........

Hoping all travels have gone well for all travellers
Hoping all had a Bon Voyage.
