ATLANTIC CANADA CYCLING, NEWFOUNDLAND - RIDIN' THE ROCK 2010 - STAGE III

JULY 2010

On our fourth day out we continue to head north. Today's goal is Cow Head. On the way we will pass one of Newfoundland's most iconic tourist destination, Western Brook Pond. A land locked fiord left over from some serious time gone by. If you have seen any sort of tourist promo from NFLD, you would have pretty much seen some sort of image from there.

You can see by the maps routing, we pass some beautiful coast. Beautiful also that we have left behind some serious contour lines that we contented with in the park.

Having taken the boat tour in 2002 with Kate and the girls, I decided not to join the gang for their trip.

Thinking that it took millions of years to form, maybe not to much has changed in a decade. 

Maybe we will see some pictures from back then.

HYLA NEMY, NICOLA NEMY, NEWFOUNDLAND - ROCKIN' THE HARBOUR - 2002

In 2002 we travel as a family to the rock. We went from east to west to east coast.

Here we re-visit our stay in the heart of Gros Morne National Park, Rocky Harbour.

ROCKY HARBOUR, GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK

Our third day of our tour was blocked to allow time to explore the park. The wet day didn't stop me from finding some favourite stops that we hit as a family during our visit here in 2002. Maybe we might find some of those pics soon.

 The cabins on the shore are where we stayed as a family.

TOURING THE NORTH PENINSULA of NEWFOUNDLAND 

with ATLANTIC CANADA CYCLING.

After spending our first night on our tour just outside of of Trout River in Gros Morne National Park, we first retrace our ride through the Tablelands.

The Tablelands are thought to be the only place in the world where what was once the the earth's mantle 200 million years ago has been pushed up to were today we ride on.

With the Tablelands being quite high, here we start to drop down to Woody Point

and breakfast.

Here we ready ourselves for a fun little ferry hop from Woody to Norris Point.

No smiles please. Coming out of the harbour. It's HARD!!! 

 Here we have already passed through Rocky Harbour that I will show more on Stage III.

 Hunkering down for what will be a wet night. That's wet outside. Low and dry inside.
