BAYFIELD INLET - TG2012 - PT3 - A LITTLE SOUTH of FRENCH RIVER TOAST

THANKSGIVING
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2012

Last night Kate tore up some bread, mixed up some eggs and whatever else was close. In the morning we tossed in some fruit and nuts and dumped in all into the Dutch Oven. Threw the whole thing in the fire, tossed some fire on top and for safety reasons, stood back and enjoyed some coffee and hot cocoa.

As evident in the background, will need some Kilman Farms Maple Syrup.

2nds
Here we rest. We have some serious baking to get started soon.

COMING NEXT - LET'S GET THE BAKING PARTY STARTED.

BAYFIELD INLET - TK2012- PT2 - GETTING IN PARM'S WAY

THANKSGIVING
Friday, October 5, 2012

On our first night, the girls built a eggplant Parmesan.
Throw in some roasted red peppers. I mean layer in...

AAHH!! A nice homemade Marinara Sauce.

Ready to go on the stove.

I have heard of sleep walking. Glad I haven't heard of sleep eating.

The water level in the bay has been a little low lately. There is a area around Pointe au Baril with some very well connected people. They ordered a little top up, which we are all thankful for.

 Should be good.

Check out the garlic bread coming in from the top right.

Any better way to finish a day. Not having marshmallows??

COMING VERY SOON- A POSSIBLE CHANGE IN FONT COLOUR and some FRENCH RIVER TOAST PUDDIN'

BAYFIELD INLET - TG2012 - PT1 - ALL YOU CAN EAT CRUISE...

......, that's all you can eat in twenty minutes on a Georgian Bay Dash.

Bayfield Inlet, Georgian Bay, Ontario, CANADA
Thanksgiving, 2012
Friday, October 5, 2012

Virtually everyone that I have met since the second weekend in October has not asked me the same question. No turkey basting blogging ? WELL, WELL, WELL. Stand back everyone.

I do write this close to Halloween. I do realize it is the time of some things frightening. I do know how this series of posting ends. Some of us have seen a certain finned fish get it's seven days of fame on a particular cable channel. So if you dare,  join us now for this Bayfield Network's
"TURKEY WEEK" (we were on the island for only three days, but ate a weeks worth of food)

Just for all four of us to be able to plan and meet for a weekend was enough to give thanks for. Throw in some safe boating, reasonable weather,.... and  much epicurean fun, more thanks.

To set the theme for the weekend, we started with a cruise that offered the traditional all you can eat passage ( I hit the throttle hard when we left the marina as I wanted this enticement kept to one sandwich each)

Like any cruise, you can imagine the excitement when the Captain
docks the boat in preparation for boarding.

This picture was taken just before the highpoint of any cruise. Dining with the captain. May I recommend.....
Some finer eating establishments allow you to bring your own beverages. MMM, OH, Chateau TH. AH, a very good hour.
I thought that we were missing someone.
This is Thanksgiving 2009.
Kirsten had been a much welcomed guest for the previous three years.

Ready to hang a starboard to our channel. Beyond here is LOTS of Georgian Bay.

Is this from a different Thanksgiving.
Or was it Easter? Maybe BayDays?
Not Georgian BAY, but Hudson Bay
Days. I'll get back to you on this one.

Readers have been forewarned.
We are now just off the main channel. This spit of rock, on the port side, is the start of our island. The dots much further left is the sitting area where many of our sunset photos are taken.
I have taught myself the boating basics by learning from examples. Here I am keeping an eye out for icebergs.

Is that all we brought?

COMING VERY SOON - We will see if that's all we brought.

PAUL NEMY, HORNBY ISLAND - BC, BIKE, BROTHER..., BYE for Now

August 31, 2012

Time has come to start heading back east. Since I left Kate, I've been on the road home, but the long way around.
This particular stretch of road sandwiched between the one that I don't remember, but took from Port Colborne in 1954 and some road that I don't want to think about, but will take me to my final rest. Means of an end and a end in itself.
It has and will still be my "Information Road". More for and from my heart than some all too fast "Information Highway".

After being away for over a month, I need to ease the trauma of going straight back to home. After a flight from Comox to Toronto, Kate and I will spend Labour Day weekend at Bayfield Inlet. Doctor's order to ease my island withdrawal.

As much as my Fuji had served me well, I shall leave it behind. Hugh is working on a replacement for my gone"True North". The island caters to bike usage.
Yes, I am going home.

On the day I went away
Was all I had to say
I want to come again and stay

Smile, and that will mean I may
'Cause I've seen blue skies
Through the tears in my eyes
And I realize I'm going home

I'm going home.

FORD COVE, HORNBY ISLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

AUGUST 2012

Tagged along with Carol and Dave to music night at Ford Cove. Brother John hosts the microphone on the local radio station this night. Unfortunately missed his program but gained a plate of fish and chips.

Dockside delivery.
Here Dave does his best "Mike Duffy" impression and gets the "local" news.
Real grassroots music in the background. Tony Wilson back at it. On the grass and ground.
Music and the moon.
