It had always seemed that Espana was one of those countries that we were in no hurry but would visit one day. For most of the summer whenever we were quizzed about our homelessness when it came to winter, a simple answer seemed that we were heading to Portugal and then beyond. It’s looking very much like we won’t even make it to Portugal this time around and, agreeably so, have adopted Spain as our initial sojourn. We had an wonderful introduction in Seville and now after our diversion in Gibraltar are back. We’ve done a car hire and will for the next two and half weeks explore the “Costa de Sol” and some nearby hill towns.
There’s just WAY too much history for someone like us to elaborate on here (have better things to do and eat!). Briefly RONDA was home to Earnest Hemingway for awhile. He fictionally incorporated the town and it’s features, most notably, in the writing “For Whom the Bell Tolls”. Orson Wells hung out here as well. Along with the “Puento Neuvo”, bull fighting has a storied tradition in Ronda. Evident by a classic ring. Toro baby!
