NORDIC VALLEY SKI RESORT, UTAH. USA

I’ve been writing that I have been targeting smaller resorts and here’s one. With one high speed lift, the rest are all fixed gripped chairs catering to beginners and lots of family fun. I’ll find smaller Utah hills are plenty big for a sunny four hours of sliding around.

Told the guys on the chair that I can never get
TOO much white and blue in a photo,
but could use a little Snow Patrol red.

It might be small by Utah standards but if its good enough for the Austrian Alpine Ski team to use a a training base for the 2002 Olympics, it's good enough............
(they did go on to win numerous medals)

I can rarely remember being anywhere where I look and there's snow as far as I can see.

Any resort where the name of the main lodge is:

THE BARN,

I`m in!

Lift line.

Hot dog tailgate party.

Kate is down the valley enjoying some snowshoeing.
(enjoying as much as the avalanche danger allows. Crazy amount of snow!!!!)

SNOWBASIN, UTAH. USA

Here in the Wasatch range, SnowBasin outside of Ogden Utah will be the largest resort we will hit. After some bluebird at Arizona Snowbowl and BrianHead, here we will contend with some snowy, foggy weather that will prove  a bit challenging. More than once I will unload and not knowing the resort will just follow the leader of the lift, hoping the leader is not just in the middle of some Warren Millar production and off to some piste where  she’s expected to free fall …………………and like Lemmings I'll.................

Crazy big mountain with crazy amount of snow.

One of the oldest ski hills in all of the USA,
Snowbasin has been in operation for eight-four years.

Who knows,
I may have unknowingly skied the 2002 Olympic downhill course that SnowBasin hosted.

After un-loading off one the highest lifts into a fog that a Londoner would be proud of,
I had absolutely no idea which way to go,
preferably not off some,
"out of bounds" cliff.
Fortunately a local picked up on a lady that was somewhat freaking out and guided us down to safer  climes.
Here I dare not lose sight as I follow.

Not my photo or here at SnowBasin but the general theme in Utah and Central California this year.

Beautiful large log facilities, top and bottom.

25,500 feet of vertical.

BRIAN HEAD RESORT, UTAH. USA

Fortunate to have come years ago with Kate and the girls to ski some of Utah’s more notable hills, looking forward this pass through to target some smaller and lesser known (and busy) resorts. Mother Nature has no favourites when it came to this season’s near record snowfall in Utah and our visit to Brian Head Resort will prove it.  With Kate off snowshoeing, I’m off exploring one of Utah’s highest ski resorts, topping out at eleven thousand feet above sea level.

Utah's southern most ski hill, we are still in Red Rock country.
Kate is snowshoeing in the next door Cedar Breaks National Monument.

Cold and corduroy.

It was all depending over what canyon we were dangling over that set the degree of our family joke about,
"NO SAFETY BARS"

Eleven thousand feet.............

..........breathtaking!

Decent skiing,
Value lift ticket,
No lift lines.

Wait up!!!!!!!
