THE SIERRA SUMMIT SERIES. NICOLA NEMY. HYLA NEMY. THE IRON LUNG. rust and all

Live Free
or
Die

CLIMBING!!!

This one we'll tag, as we bagged, the summit in Sequoia National Park close to 7,300 ft.

It's
"PAYDAY"
(nutty)

Bad attitude altitude.
(no. i think i did have a bad attitude)

I have to say that with Hyla and I closing in on five weeks, the first two with Nicola, including Monitor and Luther, bit me the hardest.

It is true that what goes up must go down.

and then back up,
and down
and ...........

I have stopped looking at the elevation charts of our maps.
Any routing with switchbacks is
"Double Espresso Time"
(Now I know why the Pros use drugs!!!)

Up in the jet stream flying with the eagles.

With some climbs spread over fifteen, twenty,...
kilometres,
riding six or seven kilometres per hour
left a lot of time to figure out my problems in life.

Like why am I climbing fifteen, twenty,...
Like why am I only going six. seven,...
Like I'll be so hungry after this that instead of butter chicken for supper, I'll think I'll have butterscotch chicken...
Go through my emergency earthquake procedure if I was in my tent....
I spend endless hours thinking why don't people have better things to do than read this mindless dribble in my blog...

(Early in the tour I was like the balloonist drifting towards the hydro lines and left a trail of jettisoned shit from my panniers over the first couple of hundred K's or so.
Leaving only the absolute necessities.
Nutella, Advil, snakes.....)

I would have preferred
DeadMau5 Summit.
(I just picture it would be smaller)

All things in a international perspective, Canada's iconic cut thru the Rockies, The Rogers Pass is roughly 4,300 ft above sea level.
On separate occasions, both hyla and I have cycle toured over Rogers Pass.
I thought that I had just rode into the thin air of Everest proportions.
WRONG!
Welcome to a portion Adventire Cycling Association's
Sierra Cascade route.

In all these cases, one certainly has to take in consideration where one starts climbing, or in that matter, where one is descending to.

I am over the hill and glad for it!!

Missing is Crater lake at approx. 6,200 ft and I'm sure a few more that we're probably glad to forget,
or lacked the oxygen to remember.

Missing is Crater lake at approx. 6,200 ft and I'm sure a few more that we're probably glad to forget,
or lacked the oxygen to remember.

I remember lacking oxygen and forgetting that I remembered some climbs that I had in my dreams nightmares during the days we were climbing.

Editors Note: With the sum of the summits noted here being close to 117,000 ft., it is quite possible that after comparing notes with people who have ridden with a GPS device, that our total NET climbing for the five weeks will exceed 50,000. ft. That is a little less than half way to Mars.See you there Elon.

It's just a matter of time
Before we get to shine
It's not a question of when
Or who does the crime
junkhouse

This bivy was about 3/4's of the way to the top on the Centre/RHS.
