Thirty five years ago I visited the area during the “Tour of the Future”, a prominent stage race for junior cyclists. I traveled with four members of a team that we supported back in the Niagara area. 

More on all of this when we get to Bisbee, Arizona. 

Here in the park the riders were challenged with an individual time trial stage up the mountain. Driving it now I have further respect in not just climbing it, but racing up some 1700FT in elevation to finish close to  7000FT above sea level.  Great job for some guys who just arrived from living at 400 ft above sea level.
