Packed my bags for the Ochoco mountains.

Very busy bear these days.

 Like with the girls last year, I pull into most every D.O T. weigh station to try to get a read on the tonnage I roll with. This one, like most is calibrated in fifty pound increments and serves not much use, other than I can here buy into illusion and the scale reading fifty pounds. With limited service ahead I'm loaded here with supplies, including fluids, and only wish that I'm the fifty pound side of seventy five, but would expect in reality, 85-90lbs total.

To John Day and beyond.

 I am now on Adventure Cycling Association's famous Trans America route and will begin to meet more frequently fellow cycle tourists and alcoholics.

Some riding from coast to coast.

 Ranch country.

 I begin my climb into Ochoco National Forest.

I love National Forests (that are not aflame). Many offer primitive organised camping which suits me just fine.

The campground and my site, at the the peak of the Ochoco Pass, quickly shot to my number one of the trip.

Along with the cooler temps, the forest zone of four to six thousand bearing Lodgepole Pine, Ponderosa Pine and the occasional Douglas Fir is my fav by far.

I find theses species lend them self to be able to see the forest for the trees, which tend to stand sparsely spaced.

For the past week and a half the skies have been filled intermittently with smoke, birds, clouds and water bombers.

Even this slick looking bird is a water bomber.  

I will hopefully be turning my back on the majority of the wild fires.

I set my odometer and kept my eyes open. 

Ladies and gentlemen, we are now on our approach to Prineville.

Why?

 The town of Prineville is rather un-assuming on its own. 

As you approach, the road is flanked by two MASSIVE, in Prineville's style, un-assuming, complexes.

There is a good chance the you yourself have not been to town but there is a very good chance that some sort of your cyber existence has.

Both are massive data storage facilities.

One for the Facebook.

The other for the Apple.

I will have pretty much been and will be now following the path of totality.

Totality crazy towns trying to capitalize on the possible one million out of state visitors expected.

I will be long gone, but hear down the road that  Prineville's solar festival attracted upwards of fifty, even one hundred thousand people.

My figure eight routing has me camping just north of Bend, on my way back to Redmond.

There I will eventually hang a right and start heading east.

This Friday has hope on the horizon as the weather lady is saying that early next week things will improve.

Thinking of moving to Oregon to join the militia, here are some other sustenance's of life that heavily favour these pioneers.
