GILA NATIONAL FOREST, NEW MEXICO, USA. MESA CAMPGROUND

We've made our way to New Mexico. We diverted from our last scheduled stop in Texas, El Paso as they seem to be flooded with aliens from the south.
We relieved them of a couple coming from the north.

With time to spend before our rendezvous with some other cyclists, we just opened the map and headed,
with much success to Silver City and the Gila National Forest.
I will ride what later I will figure out to be some stages of one of USA's great bike races,
The Tour of the Gila.

The joke was on the richest man in the world.
There was some rubbish lumber that we cleaned up for our campfire.
We laughed.

Just down the road is what we assume to be one of the properties of the richest man in the world.

CHAPARRAL RACE CARS. MIDLAND, TEXAS, USA

Slowly after our bike tour we head west across Texas.
With a little (will confirm that few things in Texas are little) detour, we head to Midland, Texas.
There we take in an outstanding museum dedicated to one of motor sport's most innovative designers and drivers, Jim Hall and a stable of his infamous race cars,
Chaparrals.

Indy winner.

I find on my phone pictures that our father took, with John and I in tow, of Jim Hall during the Players 200, Mosport Park, Ontario, Canada.
1965.

Here the late and broken down Bruce McLaren eyes the No.66 of Jim Hall.

Hot, hot laps.

Doing a Hap Sharp.

I cannot begin and won't write how this period of the Can Am challenge through the years of the late 60's and 70's epitomise to me one of the greatest in so many ways the excitement,
(earth shattering. @#$% you Formula E)
of motor racing.

FREDERICKSBURG, TEXAS. WILLKOMMEN

Just like the famed Texas Rangers,
riding into town.
Possibly unlike the famed Texas Rangers,
we went straight to the hamburger stand.

We'll start our last leg out of the LBJ rest stop.
Adjacent is the well maintained ranch of former president Lyndon Baines Johnson.
The facilities afforded us some insight to the complexities of the White House during some rather trying times as well as the good nature of himself and Ladybird.

With the wind and hills going our way, wine country.
A brief headwind and the not to be mention hills, whine country.

We'll forsake a scheduled detour and in turn just listen to Waylon's and Willie's  song that made this road famous.

Today's routing is little busier that we'd like,
but we are finding everyone:
SHARING THE ROAD,
thank you.

Look whats down the Dr.,
and down our road to Midland, Texas, USA.

We are diamond back.
Well done,
Well done indeed!!

I know that I am riding puncture proof Scwable Marathons,
but still glad that I left my spurs at home.
CLUB TREAD

Don't be so surprised. I told you that we went to a ................I CAN believe that I ate the whole thing.

MUCH SUCCESS.

I've found the best things in life are best shared.

Especially when its the road.
