HORNBY ISLAND - MORE SAVING, MORE DOING. HORNBY STYLE.

AUGUST 2012

Going to The Depot. Home of lots of doing and some saving. The island's centre of most, not all,  things trash and recycling. The trick is not to come home with more stuff (junk) that you went with.

PLEASE FIRST REDUCE

John under the stairs dragging out the weeks collection.

As there is no waste collection on the island, everyone can pretend once a week that they are a Waste Removal Vehicle Operator.

Waste disposal and recycling is serious business on the island.

 THEN RE-USE

Three piece matching set. At the reclaim centre, Feng Shui
is applied to all furniture. (I certainly wasn't interested but did
check under the cushions for change)

A toaster, with actual toast. Better yet, whole grain. Maybe now I'll find a butter dish and if I'm lucky with some ......

A first edition of Walden's Pond. Signed by Thoreau. Original binding. To bad, someone turned the corners of the pages as bookmarks and wrote their grocery list on the inside front cover.
Envious of what your neighbour is wearing, come back in six months.
Careful for those dinner parties.

AND AFTER RECYCLE.
This seemed more complicated than putting some money on my favourite pony down at the track.
Parimutuel recycling. Which is the trifetca window?

And then toss the rest, if it passes inspection.

COMING VERY SOON -  THIS CARDBOARD (BAKERY) NEED NOT BE RECYCLED.
