APRIL 16, 2016
We spent a half day in Split on our way to Hvar. Now we are back. Here we will spend one night before we board our last ferry to cross the Adriatic to Ancona, Italy, where we will take, for the last leg of our journey, the train to Venice, Italy.
After our first pass through, I was thinking that I'm slowly tiring of "old" "historic" "clayed roof" "tourist" towns.
What changed all that was "The Market" was full on!!
Lets go eat something that we're not quite sure what the hell it is!
The booth next door was selling, butter, garlic, herbs, napkins,.....
Theres one getting away!
I had to get our "Berlitz" out and find in Croatian,
"Hey man, what the hell is that thing on your head?"
Where there are vegetables.
There are Craotian miracle vegetable tools.
There wasn't much that you couldn't buy at the market.
I asked her what her return policy was.
" I will report you to the police!"
Another fabulous waterfront.
Here we are befriended by a local. Well versed in more languages than we have heard over the past couple of months. Well traveled to the point of explaining to us the where and whys of the distribution of Croates across Canada.
Nice meeting you, our friend!
If this was fun and filling, but wait until we hit the fish market.
