TUCSON, ARIZONA. USA. JANUARY 12, 2023

I generally don’t look forward to writing about the last day. It implies that we have arrived and are done, but here we have a great way out. 

Yes we finished our tour of Southern Arizona but now we will start exploring Tucson, continuing on our bikes. The city is viewed as one of United States` most bike friendly, with seemingly endless "bike lanes", it's highlighted by a two hundred kilometre loop that both circumnavigates and interweaves throughout the city. 

I wonder if the invention of cycling was a journey.

Heading into Tucson, here we are already getting a taste of this recreation only trail as we head back to the truck. There we will re-supply and hotel hop for a week.

We will wrap up this portion of our program pretty much as we started, and good part of our duration, with some amazing weather.

Well, we are on our penultimate day of what will turn out to be a month of some pretty amazing bike touring.

We won't make the full eighty kilometres into,

 and more importantly,

DOWN

to Tucson today, so we've tagged a couple of possible camp options.

Thought we might join some hikers for an overnight at a crossroads of the Arizona Trail,

but we have some life in our legs and will continue on.

Before we do we will jettison some "over" supplies into the hiker`s care box, already loaded with water for thirsty through hikers.

  

Our last night will be in an RV park as our nature is running out this close to the city.

It's got an nice vibe and great facilities.

 

BACK TO SONOITA, ARIZONA. USA. JANIARY 10, 2023

We started on December 15th, 2022, today being January 10th, 2023, and with just a couple of days to go before we are back in Tucson, we will be close to one month travelling by bikes.

(When we do make it back to Tucson and our truck, we will only re-supply and continue riding for another week. No better to explore this very bike friendly city.)

We missed out on a lot of validated and free parking. 

We will retrace bit of our route and head back to Sonoita, Arizona. With the Sonoita Inn serving so well in our first ride through, after a night of camping we look forward to returning via a ride along Arizona’s wine country route.

We will find the road quite quiet

..........................EXCEPT FOR..........................

a constant convoy of trailered containers.

Previous to our arrival in Arizona,

the Governor decided upon himself to continue the building of:

"THE WALL"

using freight containers.

Then some further higher up decided upon himself that that was not a good idea and ordered said 

"CONTAINER CONTINUATION"

dismantled,

resulting in our entertainment of many days watching containers coming and going in every imaginable direction, 

except for up and down.

(I wonder how many illegals were in each?)

yes you can find any old rocks most anywhere but if you are going to go through the trouble of secretly filling someone's pannier with..........

they shouldn't be just any old rocks.
