Buenos Dias.
A much appreciated sunny morn after a cool mountain night.
Mont Fitz Roy, named after the captain of the
Beagle. The ship noted for its passenger, Charles Darwin.
The tower has a long history of notable ascents. One being in the mid '60s by a team that included the founder of the Patagonia clothing line, Yvon Chouinard. Accompanied by the late Doug Thomkin, founder of another biggy,
North Face.
After a relatively simple two hour hike up yesterday, today we will continue our ways to Camp Poincenot, closer to the base of Mont Fitz Roy.
After a bit of a climb up to our camp one, today we will trek a high plateau that makes this trail a long but relatively easy walk that attracts a regular stream of day hikers.
After setting up camp, we'll head a little further up the valley where our lunch view is Glacier Blanco.
Back at camp we check out our view from our travelling room.
We've had an amazing couple of days here. One of those natural connections to nature.
(I don't mind paying for nature. Here everything is free. Where we will head to next, Torres del Paine, not so much.)
The area is busy by day but the tent city by night has us even finding some acquaintances from our past couple months of travel.
