Editor's note:
For those that have been following our cycling adventure I apologise for this brief interlude.(coming to a good part. Getting close to climbing Tioga Pass. The only climb on the trip that we will say was not high enough. Stay tuned for irregular scheduled broadcasting next)
For those who have been waiting for the always current styling of "going over niagara paul's" updates which surely would include cottage reports, I apologise for this absence.
I mostly apologise to whomever may have unwillingly come across going over niagara paul's. Spam is Spam.
The rest of you can go to hell.
And now:
The New Nemy Cottage
After what turned into for us a good part of the summer, we survived, quite well I must add, the usual red builders tape and saw construction start early September.
In the complete design process, the main goal by far was to plot the new cottage on or as close to the location of the old.
That we are able to say happened and we are amazingly thrilled.
Location, Location, Location.
Water, water, water.
With our crew not getting started till early September, fall weather is always a concern.
With honourable intentions, our builder is planning to have everything closed in still this season.
Here a little frost is a reminder that time is, hopefully, slowly running out.
Kate, with the help, is Varathaning what will be our exposed ceiling pine boards.
The help.
Here with the help of the help we're catchin' a little dinner.
(If the help is wondering, I do have some beautiful photos from Thanksgiving. At the rate of current publishing that nice bike trip, looking to post Thanksgiving at Christmas.)
Soon to be our view from the living end of the cottage.
The living end being sitting and eating areas.
(now that I look at it, design error. it's just one area. sitting while I eat. When this thing is done, I'm never going outside again.)
Our separate wash house will also have a small utility room for solar electrical panels, ....
The whole area will be roofed creating a outdoor covered deck.
From the interior the roof rafters will be left exposed.
The pine boards that were getting Varathaned will be the first layer on top finishing off our exposed ceiling.
Wash house.
This soon to be Patio Door will lead to a deck from our bedroom.
Here in the centre of the wall, the Tyvek building paper still covers our kitchen window.
Here the 9 to 5 don't deal with the usual traffic congestion.
Most corners have fixed floor to ceiling glass. Here we can look down and see if there is a fish before I need to get the pole.
This amazing project of ours only gets better.
We have a great understanding crew that we can share some laughs with.
YOU WANT WHAT WHERE WHEN!!!!
YOU WANT WHAT WHERE WHEN!!!!
Georgian Bay view from living and dining end.
For those of you that have been here you know,
so Mr Taxman and our wonderful investment team in Fonthill that we promise not to go over budget, Mother Nature is the one that has provided us with the million dollar views.
Living and eating end.
From some rather extravagant initial thoughts and drawings, we have gone to a simple concept.
We have envisioned for a while that the cottage will just be a structure to place windows. Windows that will enable us to look out to the spectacular surrounding.
I have been referring to our project as a box.
A box with a roof.
BUT IT IS GOING TO BE
ONE HELL OF A BOX
Georgian Bay Sunset view from living and dining end.
Moonrise view from not just our bedroom but from where our bed will be.
Will have to remember to go to sleep with my camera.
Will wake up to the same view of the sunrise.
Will wake up to the same view of the sunrise.
