Lodgepole Campground to Piedra, California. (Thats right folks. PIEDRA)
Part One. Day Five
Yesterday we went
UP
This morning we're
UP
Soon we're
AWAY
Nothing was going to spoil our victorious arrival at camp yesterday.
Not even a friendly Park Ranger's cautionary warning that we were on the flight path of a rather routine bear over last couple of nights.
With breakfast to behold, we all agreed this a.m. that that routine could very well have continued but the only way we might have envisioned it was in our dreams.
Any morning that you can get a smile on after what we did yesterday is a
GOOD MORNING
In the park we will tap out at approximately 7,300ft above sea level.
With no road running at any elevation to our next high Sierra destination, Yosemite, we will sadly/gladly descend later today back down to ride in the San Joaquin Valley for a day or two.
Meanwhile we will enjoy our ride towards Kings Canyon National Park.
Coneheads.
A bear that's a little more interested in some fresh berries opposed to some meals on wheels.
Our first part of the day will have us pass by Kings Canyon National Park.
With some miles ahead we'll opt to continue on today.
Join us next for its not quite all downhill from here, but......
And yes as promised, Piedra, California.
