Refugio Cuernos to Refugio Central
Even with breakfast (and trail lunches) available, Kate and I are enjoying (I eat twice as much! IT LIGHTENS THE PACK!) our do-it-yourself day starters.
We leave compound Cuernos behind.
In addition to the Refugio and campground, private cabanas were also available.
We pretty much skirted that option when booking.
This once in a lifetime experience is epic both in nature and expense.
One has always the option to self contain camp the whole way, but our alternative of lodging is making this connect with nature a "memorable" experience.

Like many mountain treks, the weather dictates the volume of water run off from the snow still above.
Extra rock hopping will be a small price to pay for short sleeve wear.

With today's destination slowly coming up on the right, we are starting to see, centre left, the valley that tomorrow will take us up to in the infamous
"Torres"
Odd combination of land with the unseen here towering rock spires just off to our left.
We have now made our way to not only the Central Refugio, but to the part of the park that is vehicle accessible. The grand hotel sits not far off.
Looking back, there has been little during all of our South American adventure that we would have done differently. Possibly we could have skipped our stay here and headed right up to the Refugio Chileno, our next stop.
No problem though as we will take full advantage of the comfy and roomy sitting areas. Varying in the degree of adequate, here the "good facilities" encourage that little extra time in a hot shower .
Our room feels "fresh" and inviting. We have been travelling with our own sleeping bags. Here as in most places the linens and comforters appear clean and inviting.
Our luck will have us share it with just a rather tired couple that valued their quiet time as much as we did ours.
Tonight at dinner we will reunite with acquaintances from our boat ride in.
