TORRES DEL PAINE, PARQUE NACIONAL. REGUGIO EL CHILENO TO REFUGIO CENTRAL NORTE.

January 24, 2017
Refugio El Chileno to Refugio Central Norte

With "Las Torres" and breakfast in the bag, we're on our way down for our final night in the park.

Unfortunately our weather window yesterday didn't avail us with the best views but did add to the dramatic landscape.

We didn't get the
"SHOT"
but we did spend the
"MONEY"

We have become spoiled by spending any amount of time in North America's National parks.
The pride, purpose and infrastructure (and resources) are evident beyond their natural beauty.

This national (world famous and much exposed) Chilean gem seems serviced and sustained just on the point of subsistence , and then in many cases, barely.
(at least this sign wasn't lying on the ground, as are many others)

Looking back towards the striking Las Torres, the surrounding terrain continues to subtly unimpress (me).

Only partial evidence of what proves to a very busy, and noting again a challenging day hike, trail.
At times the stream of trekkers is endless.
Not quite the same as having to stand in line as we did upon arriving in the park but.....

Down and almost out.
