NEW MEXICO OFF-ROAD RUNNER. NEMY. PAGE 30/32. TO BERNARDO.

Thanks for joining us.
Not sure where I’m more fortunate. Getting a propelling experience in with our two daughters or riding a portion of the incredibly beautiful bike packing adventure that is the New Mexico Off-Road Runner. To do both together, well, a liberating journey of harmony and adventure I’m beyond grateful for. This once guiding father now thankfully follows the many inspirations Hyla and Nicola have become. More so Nicola’s passion of a gravel road less taken…………………….

Pretty much the whole of the day we will have to ourselves. The exception was oncoming. First spotted from the far side of the gulch. With the nature of the road and trailer in tow, approaching not much faster than we were advancing.
Upon meeting this local ranch owner appeared more than interested in stopping and sharing with us the lay of his land.
His generosity was primarily a delay tactic from any serious work he had scheduled for the day as he quite openly admitted to be nursing a hangover.
A hangover resulting from an Easter celebration with friends. We demise that where some people will spend the holiday in church, here it's spent hurling horseshoes and shooting rattlesnakes in-between guzzles of the local sacramental brew.

This is additional confirmation of how travelling by the humble bicycle opens (truck) doors.
He was an endless resource on ranch life in New Mexico.
He also endlessly advised us to NOT to ride over rattlesnakes.

Point noted!

Thanks our friend.

Symphony of the ascent.

Plain view.

We won't meet too many people today, but who we do are sure nice.
"We're good thanks!!"

Try not to ride over any rattlesnakes and....

Moving meditation.
Not sure if it was My Fair Lady.......
but I believe Hyla here is doing a Julie Andrews with her......

What.. flows.. from.. the.. nose.. does.. not.. go.. on.. your.. clothes,.........
What flows from the noes does not go on your clothes,
I think she's got it.....
I think she's got it......
What..............

Some of my most memorable parts of trips like this is when the occasional time the
Cow Chips
are down we find a resilience, a self reliance within ourselves.
A reassurance of a resolve that better becomes a part of our everyday lives and oneself.
Gotta make some payments on this lease on life.

Without fear, doubt, discomfort, what is there for a person to overcome other than by cycle needing to  rock the Casbah once in a while.

Psycho killers.

CANADA, Eh!. Oh?

Club Tread.

………….Here you have found one of thirty two posts chronicling our pedaling and pondering of Cass Gilbert’s excellently presented and documented “New Mexico Off Road Runner”.
Like life and a blog, please enjoy cha-cha cha-ing back and forth, newer and older, for a time of my life.

When I was a kid I rode my bike to be more like an adult. Here as an adult, I ride, thanks to the girls, to be more like a kid again. What a playground.

Transcending the family bound, here, as in the past, we saddled up as compadres ciclismo.
